I am very glad to have you in my class.  Now we are on the regular block, so we will see each other every day!  Get ready to read, write, think, and discuss.

Best,
Mrs. Haughaboo
We have a new student Intranet page (http://links.dcs.edu). All students should be directed to this page as their homepage when they open an internet browser. There is an elementary section and a secondary section to the site.

All students, grades 3-12 (and K-2 at Ben Davis only), have network log-in credentials including email as follows:
  • All students have new accounts for accessing the network.
  • Student accounts are FirstNameLastName (no spaces) and were created as their names appear in iNOW except for
    • no apostrophes
    • no hyphens
    • and, no double or hyphenated last names (use only the first surname)
  • Lunch PINs are student passwords but all have at least 5 characters; so, PINs with less than five characters have leading zeros.
  • Students with duplicate names now have middle initials added to their accounts. For example, Susie Jane Doe would be SusieJDoe (no spaces and middle initial) if there were two students named Susie Doe in the district. In cases where we have students with the same name and same middle initial (or no middle initial), we have added a 1, 2, etc., at the end of the username.
  • All students with network accounts also have Google accounts (dcs.k12.al.us). The sync is working for them just as it does for us, so they should go to http://mail.dcs.k12.al.us (or click the link on the student intranet page) to log in. Students use their network username and lunch PIN to log in. There is no need to add @dcs.k12.al.us at the end and no need to reset forgotten passwords. :-)
  • Network resources that use the same network log-in for students include all of the MOODLE sites, the student portal (http://studentportal.dcs.edu), and the student network H drive as well as My Files from PODnet or home networks (http://myfiles.dcs.edu).
