  • 19. Write arguments to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts, using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence. [W.11-12.1]
  • 19b. Develop claim(s) and counterclaims fairly and thoroughly, supplying the most relevant evidence for each while pointing out the strengths and limitations of both in a manner that anticipates the audience’s knowledge level, concerns, values, and possible biases. [W.11-12.1b]
  • 27. Draw evidence from literary or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research. [W.11-12.9]

  2. Turn in Vocabulary Cards (Unit 1)
  3. Written response:  How does the theme of carpe diem apply to each of the poems we read on Day 42?  Write the title of each poem followed by a 1-2 sentence explanation of how the carpe diem theme is expressed, a description of the speaker, and a description of the audience.  Turn it in to the Senior turn-in box.
  4. Go over some topics for research and show how to do preliminary research.
  5. Students will have time to submit topics and get feedback--They must be approved before class on Day 45.
