Cell Phone Rules

In the 2016-2017 Code of Student Conduct under a Class II: 2.00 (page 30), it states that allowing a student to bring electronic devices, including, but not limited to cell phones is a privilege afforded to DCS.  Use or visible possession during school hours is strictly prohibited unless authorized by the Principal or the student is using a device issued by the school system for educational purposes.  Dr. Scott has authorized cell phones under the following conditions:
  • Cell phones may be used before and after school.  This includes earbuds/headphones.
  • Cell phones may not be used during the school day.  Students can text only (no earbuds/headphones) during class change and lunch.  Students may use the cell phone in class for educational/other purposes with the teacher's permission.
  • No earbuds/headphones are to be used during the school day.  The only time a student may use earbuds/headphones is if the teacher gives the student permission to do so in the classroom.
  • Teachers may not charge or keep phones for students.  The cell phone is the student's responsibility.

If a cell phone is taken up Monday -Thursday, a parent can get the phone back on Friday between 3pm and 4pm.  If a cell phone is taken up on Friday, a parent can pick it up on Monday .  Please refer to the AHS Student Handbook, page 16.
